We are Lions......

Being a member of a friendly club that is involved with the community, we have widened our horizons and provided considerable personal development and an understanding of our local area and community.
While we give a slice of our spare time to welfare and the community, all of us have received back in kind, far more than the efforts we put into our Lions work.
With life long friendships developed through Lions, our club is a mix of all ages and interests.

WELCOME.

The Park Orchards Lions Club came into being through an active social group in 1977, 40 years ago.
Through Lions Australia, we are a member of Lions International, with over 1.4 million members world wide.
The Lions motto is “We Serve".

Our club has been involved in many community projects, large and small, all embodying Community service.

Some of these projects have included the initial development of the local B.M.X. Track, the gardens around the Park Orchards shops and the maintenance of the "100 Acres" natural bush reserve.

Currently our headline projects include:
  • Community Christmas Carols.
  • Youth of the Year.
  • Citizenship awards to the surrounding junior schools
  • Most valuable player awards for local sporting clubs
  • Lions Village Licola, through camp maintenance and sponsorship of children who may not have other holiday opportunities.
Support for specific causes, including:
  • Prostate cancer and the Ted Whitten Foundation
  • Cystic Fibrosis Australia
  • Local assistance with family support issues, such as Cerebral Palsy and Autism
  • Support of Disaster relief through Lions such as the Black Saturday fires, the recent typhoon, Hayian in the Philippines and many others.
  • Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal
  • International projects where our club believes that we can make a difference.
Main Fundraising activities are currently:
  • Sausage sizzles and event catering, such as the "Day of the Volkswagen".
  • Annual Car Rally through the Yarra Valley
The Lions members have a dinner meeting on the first Monday of the month at:
  • The Grand Hotel Warrandyte, 6.30 pm for 7.00 pm.
Club membership averages 35 members, so we have a wide range of ages, and interests in the club and we are always ready to welcome new members.
There is also a variety of opportunities for family members to enjoy social events.
