Nepal Children’s Medical Aid Fund
The Park Orchards Lions Club has reached out by providing a grant to the Children’s Medical Aid Fund (CMAF) in Nepal prior to the terrible earthquake on April 25th 2015. The CMAF is dedicated to improving the lives of impoverished children and families in Nepal by bridging healthcare needs with access to healthcare services. They facilitate the fund development, local and international partnerships and volunteer assistance required to provide no- or low-cost healthcare services to indigent families in rural, remote areas of Nepal. Their vision is to help make it possible for all children in Nepal to have the best possible chances for a healthy and fulfilling life by ensuring access to basic healthcare, and providing education and treatment for disfiguring birth defects.
Following the earth quake, Nepal and its people suffered widespread damage. The resources of the CMAF were used to feed over 2,000 volunteers and earthquake victims, and to provide medical care and surgery to the many injured. Over 200 surgeries were completed and 800 earthquake victims received medical treatment free of charge.
Further information regarding activities of the CMAF are posted on their website at http://www.childrensmedaid.org
